Wrightsville Beach woke to rain this morning and that got me thinking about beach vacations with my kids when they were young. It's bad enough to hear, "I'm bored", when you're at home and they have friends to play with and the always trusty, "Bored? I'll give you bored. Go clean out the shed."  But "I'm bored" when you're away from home and maybe a little out of your comfort zone calls for a different solution. After all, this is supposed to be your vacation as well, long faces and whiny voices are simply not acceptable.

Now, I'm old school, at least that's what my kids say!, so this is where the puzzle that was brought along and set out on the table in the corner gets some help from sticky fingers. Or maybe that deck of cards gets some use -- I have fond memories of playing gin rummy with my mother, maybe my kids can say the same? Does anyone even play gin rummy these days?
