Event:  Last Day of Summer Vacation 2010 Blow-Out!

Why:   Because I love my girls and I HATE that they are going back to school!

We started our Blow-Out at Whitey's Restaurant in Wilmington.  Whitey's has been serving up diner fare since 1954.  They offer breakfast all day, so they're a big hit with our family -- who doesn't like breakfast for dinner once in a while?

Our next stop was The Children's Museum of Wilmington.  WOW!  Let me say that one more time.  WOW! What a great time we had!

The "grocery store" was a big hit!

 The "camping" room was even better than the real thing -- NO BUGS!

                 The "Science Lab" had lots of fun hands on experiments to try!

The "Dentist office" had some dinosaurs in need of work!

 How about this giant spiderweb?  Now that's some fun climbing!

The kids grow some great produce here!

The "Teddy Bear Hospital" let the girls be hero's for some lucky bears!

 We got to play dress-up.

Hey! Anna Banana -- when did you start writing books?

 Check out this great "dragon" tree the girls found!

From there it was on to the Horse Drawn Carriage Ride through Historic Downtown Wilmington.  Both of the girls have done this before, so you'd think they wouldn't be interested.  You'd be wrong!  I think their favorite part is when the carriage driver has to use the cherry scented spray!

Had to have ice cream from Kilwin's.  MMMMMMM!! Please take note that my company, Prudential Laney has an office right next door!  Talk about location, location, location!

Had lunch at The Reel Cafe, 100 S. Front Street Wilmington, NC  910.251.1832.  Here's a great tip -- kids 12 and under eat free with a paying adult.  So for less than $25 the 4 of us had a great lunch and rode out the storm that was passing through.  No pictures there -- sorry, but we have a rule about eating and cameras!

Thought we'd go to the beach for the afternoon, but the rain put a damper on that plan.  When given a choice, both girls decided they'd like to go back to my house, paint our toenails, pop some popcorn and watch a movie.  Not quite the BIG ending to the day I had planned.  But I'm with my girls, so I think I'll be okay.
